About the Artist

Stephanie Johnson is living and working in Vancouver, BC Canada. She has a Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta and specializes in painting and photography.

"My paintings are about colour and surface texture.

I will often combine elements to the paint to add texture or use sandpaper to remove the surface and reveal the layers of colour underneath.

Through the creative process I believe we can access feelings that we were otherwise unaware of.

Often when I create a painting I will use a particular colour as a starting point and then the painting will take on a life of its own.

The painting, in a sense, creates itself."
